ST. LOUIS Oct. 7, 2019 – Al Roker Entertainment, the production arm of iconic NBC TODAY Show anchor and weatherman Al Roker, has signed on to produce the nationally-televised Musial Awards as the event’s 2019 broadcast production partner. The National Sportsmanship Foundation and the St. Louis Sports Commission, which oversee the Musial Awards, made the announcement today.

Al Roker Entertainment (ARE) will package the Musial Awards into a one-hour television special that will air on CBS on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. EST. The telecast will also run at least twice on cable’s CBS Sports Network. The Musial Awards live show takes place on Nov. 23 at Stifel Theatre in St. Louis.

“I’m a big baseball fan, and I actually remember Stan The Man from my childhood and the integrity for which he was known,” commented Al Roker. “I’m honored to work with the National Sportsmanship Foundation and my friends in St. Louis to broadcast the legendary Musial Awards, and their vital message of good sportsmanship to a national audience.”

“We are grateful for the interest and enthusiasm Al Roker and his team have shown the Musial Awards,” said Marc Schreiber, executive producer of the Musial Awards and vice president of the St. Louis Sports Commission. “To have our St. Louis-grown event capture the attention of a national production company of Al Roker Entertainment’s caliber is gratifying. We are thrilled to be working with ARE, sharing remarkable stories of sportsmanship with the nation and elevating the impact of the most important awards in sports.”

The Musial Awards – presented by Maryville University – celebrate the year’s greatest moments of sportsmanship and those in sports who embody class and character. The event is named for Baseball Hall of Famer and St. Louis Cardinals legend Stan Musial, a beloved superstar and civic icon who personified sportsmanship. Shining a spotlight on kindness, selflessness, integrity and civility, the Musial Awards aim to inspire people across the nation to be good sports.

The production of the Musial Awards telecast is overseen by ARE Executive Vice President Tracie Brennan, in partnership with EMME Solutions. Al Roker will serve as Executive Producer along with Shana Scott of mOdat Productions. Content for the show will also be provided by St. Louis-based Onyour6 Productions, which previously produced the Musial Awards broadcast. The show will be hosted by veteran St. Louis TV news and sports anchor Mike Bush, who has served as master of ceremonies for the Musial Awards since its launch in 2005.
