The St. Louis Sports Commission has created an innovative program fostering civility, respect and selflessness among young people in our region. Inspired by the great Stan Musial, the organization visits schools in the metro area to introduce the concept of “Musial Moments” and instill the qualities of sportsmanship on and off the field.
Through a fun, interactive and impactful 45-minute session, St. Louis Sports Foundation Director Solomon Alexander motivates students to care about sportsmanship and to be good to those around them – just as Stan the Man did during his illustrious career and life.
While live Musial Moments assemblies have been postponed, the Musial Moments message moves forward and is now available to every family – online and free-of-charge.
Please click on the links below to access the Musial Moments program playlist and lesson plans. You will find the same elements as you would in a live assembly – key information about Stan Musial’s life and legacy, video content from Musial Awards stories and valuable lessons on sportsmanship and character.
There are also lessons available for educators and parents who have suddenly had to take on the role of educator for their children. Click on the link below that corresponds to your student’s level in school and download the lesson plan and activities, again free-of-charge. Please have students complete the activities after watching Musial Moments Online.
To bring Musial Moments to your school or organization, call 314-345-5130 or email email@example.com.
Funding from Sports Commission supporters enables this program to be offered at no cost to participating groups.
Musial Moment presentations are geared for young people in third grade through high school. To maximize the impact of the presentations, we suggest that participating groups have at least 200 in attendance.
We all have all witnessed a Musial Moment in our lives, many of which go completely unnoticed and do not receive the attention and recognition they deserve. If you have seen a Musial Moment, or have one of your own you’d like to share, tag us @MusialAwards on Instagram or Twitter, or share it to facebook.com/MusialAwards with #MusialMoment.#MusialMoments
