ST. LOUIS – January 28, 2025 – The 2024 Musial Awards airing nationally on CBS on December 29 was seen by 2.25 million viewers, according to media measurement company VideoAmp. The show that annually inspires the nation with stories of sportsmanship, selflessness, and kindness in sports bested its previous high of 1.824 million viewers (in 2022) and was seen in nearly 1.7 million households. In addition to the CBS broadcast and simulcast stream on Paramount+, the 2024 Musial Awards presented by Maryville University had three encore airings on CBS Sports Network.
“In this day and age, it’s quite an accomplishment to reach more than two million viewers,” said Marc Schreiber, president of the St. Louis Sports Commission, which, along with the National Sportsmanship Foundation, produces the Musial Awards. “I hope everyone associated with the Musial Awards – and St. Louisans especially – share great pride in how far our homegrown event has come and the audience it has achieved. We’re of course grateful to CBS Sports for providing a wonderful platform for us to inspire millions of viewers across the nation and showcase St. Louis as the epicenter for celebrating and elevating sportsmanship in America.”
There will be one more opportunity for viewers in the St. Louis market to see the Musial Awards, as the show will air Sunday, February 2 at 6 p.m. CT on KSDK Channel 5.
A show that engages you with celebrity names, while heartening your spirit with inspiring stories of everyday heroes, the 2024 Musial Awards were headlined by Sports Broadcasting Hall of Famer Bob Costas, who received the Stan Musial Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest award for sportsmanship. NFL great Larry Fitzgerald, Jr., received the Musial Award for Extraordinary Character and Kansas City Royals All-Star catcher Salvador Perez also accepted a Musial Award. In partnership with the St. Louis Sports Commission and the National Sportsmanship Foundation, the Musial Awards broadcast is produced by Al Roker Entertainment, the production arm of 14-time Emmy Award-winning TV personality Al Roker. The show is hosted by veteran St. Louis TV anchor Mike Bush, who has emceed the Musial Awards for 19 years.
