BROADCAST FROM ST. LOUIS HONORS THOSE ACROSS NORTH AMERICA WHO INSPIRE WITH EXTRAORDINARY SPORTSMANSHIP

ST. LOUIS – December 21, 2023 – ‘Twas the night of the Musials and all through the nest, TVs will be tuned in to CBS.  The Musial Awards presented by Maryville University – the annual celebration of sportsmanship, selflessness, and kindness in sports – will air across the nation Sunday, December 24 at 5 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. CT (check local listings) on the CBS Television Network.  The one-hour show will stream simultaneously on Paramount+.

The Musial Awards features names you know, and some you don’t, with stories that restore hope in humanity and reflect civility and class in all walks of life and levels of sports.  This year’s stories come from all over the map and sports landscape, with honorees from Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and as far away as Italy…and in sports including basketball, baseball, softball, football, fencing, horse racing, and a college pep band.

The 2023 Musial Awards is headlined by Bill Bradley, who is receiving the Stan Musial Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest award for sportsmanship. MLB record-setting pitcher Adam Wainwright receives the Musial Award for Extraordinary Character.

Other award winners include Godolphin Racing and Breeders’ Cup champion racehorse Cody’s Wish; Minnesota high school basketball player Noah Bjerke-Wieser; the University of Dayton Flyer Pep Band; Italian fencer Emilia Rossatti; Southern University Athletics; and a pair of college softball players from Southeastern University – Chapel Cunningham and Leah Gonzalez.  Background on all the honorees and why they’re receiving the Musial Award can be found at MusialAwards.com/Honorees.

The Musial Awards have aired on CBS Sports since 2019.  The 2022 broadcast was seen by 1.824 million viewers. In addition to the Christmas Eve airing on CBS, the show can be seen on CBS Sports Network Saturday, December 30 at 3 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. CT.

In partnership with the St. Louis Sports Commission and the National Sportsmanship Foundation, the Musial Awards broadcast is produced by Al Roker Entertainment, the production arm of 14-time Emmy award-winning TV personality Al Roker. The show is hosted by veteran St. Louis TV anchor Mike Bush, who has emceed the Musial Awards for 18 years.
